Poppy Seed Sliders
I am always a fan of a good slider. They can be used in so many ways with so many different combinations. I have been wanting to do a little series on all the different kinds of sliders. Sounds like a delicious little project if you ask me. All you need to know is the basics then the sky's the limit!
These make great appetizers or main dishes. You can make these for potlucks, sports gatherings, birthday parties, quick week night dinner, holiday parties, a weeks worth of lunches for the kids (they are delicious chilled!), and more!
BASICS:
OVEN TEMP: 425 degrees
COOK TIME: 20-25 minutes
BAKE PREP: Always remember to loosely cover with foil for the first 10-15 minutes. Remove foil just over half way through so the rolls can get reach a nice, golden brown.
Below are the basic steps you need to take with some photos to help! I am a very visual person, so these type of instructions are really helpful!
You can use Provolone, Swiss, Havarti, Gouda, Cheddar, Colby Jack or any cheese that can be sliced or shredded! Swiss is a sharper flavor and combines well with ham and turkey! If you feel like the brown sugar and butter mixture is enough make more! Its super easy! A word of caution when adding the poppy seeds on top. Don't shake them out of the shaker! Its super easy to dump a bunch of poppy seeds if you try shaking some out. I pour some in one hand and use my fingers to evenly sprinkle the poppy seeds all over. Its definitely worth a little extra effort.
SUGGESTED SIDES:
- Cesar Salad
- Fruit Salad
- Chips
- Vegetable tray
- Soup
- Garden Salad
- Steamed Vegetables
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- Provolone cheese can be swapped out for your favorite deli cheese, or even your favorite shredded cheese!
- Ham can be switched with turkey, sliced chicken, really any deli meat!
- Poppy seeds are optional and can be left out if you don't have any.
- Butter needs to be butter for this recipe. If you don't have butter, then you can just enjoy the sandwiches as is.
- Brown sugar should not be substituted with regular sugar. You can drizzle a little honey in with the butter if needed. Otherwise you can just use the melted butter and poppy seeds.
