Browned Garlic Alfredo

Fettuccini Alfredo ready to serve

Have you ever ordered alfredo at a restaurant and then could smell it as it left the kitchen making its way to you on a silver platter? The garlic and parmesan creating a simple yet majestic symphony. As it is set down in front of you the steam dances off the noodles in a sentimental swirl and you take a long deep breath in awe. You take your first bite and instantly are filled with JOY! Then sudden sadness sets in as you realize....... "I can't recreate this..... this will only last until the plate is empty". You do your best to savor every last bit as you enter a melancholy state. Suddenly the person at the table across from you (who happened to order the same dish) leans over and says "I know how you're feeling....what if I told you that there's a recipe to fill the gaping void in your heart?". With pleading eyes you say "Where can I get this recipe??". The person says "www.thymeatmytable.com". You sigh with such relief and know that you can now FULLY enjoy the dish before you, because hope is not lost after all.

Below is the recipe for the "Alfredo of Your DREAMS"! Make sure to share this with your family and friends. We want the world full of people who can easily create the pasta sauce only their heart desires.

Now, before we begin, lets check and make sure you have all the ingredients! You can use this cute little check list! I have also included a list of substitutions later in this post. You can refer to that if you find yourself in a pinch!

Grocery list for alfredo sauce

SUBSTITUTIONS: Now just a couple of things worth noting. There is not much that can be substituted in this recipe, because everything plays such an important part.

Parmesan Cheese can be subbed with other cheese, but then its not Alfredo at that point. It would still by yummy (don't get me wrong), but it's just not Alfredo.

Garlic can be subbed for garlic powder. If you are using that substitution, just focus on the roux at the beginning, instead of browning the garlic. This substitution is not going to reach the same level of sauce, but is a yummy alternative if you're in a bind.

Lemons can be substituted for lemon juice concentrate. Just use 1 Tbsp to equal 1/2 lemon.

Chicken Broth can be substituted with chicken bone broth or water. If you use water make sure to add a bit of salt to make up for what you aren't getting with the broth. about 1 tsp should do the trick.
